A friend of mine who understands my general thoughts and attitude toward the mysteries of traffic sent me this:

I haven’t dedicated an entire post to Seattle driving yet, but it is certainly deserving of one. Among other things, Seattle is the only city in which drivers are not taught to stay in the right lanes and to use the left lane as a fast/passing lane.

For reasons I don’t entirely understand, Seattle is either committed to following the law or deathly afraid of the police. Either way, our police force would only have to do this a few times before word got out and everyone stayed out of the left lane.
