So, President Obama has traded five Taliban leaders for one of our captured soldiers who quite possibly deserted the army.
When these sorts of things happen, you have to wonder if the person who makes the deal is stupid, making the mistake intentionally or up to something entirely different.
Historically, the United States does not negotiate with terrorists. It appears those days are over. Things I don’t understand include: Why did we trade five of their valued captives for only one of ours? And was the one we traded for even valued? Was he even a member of our military anymore?
And what of the consequences. According to Time Magazine, they asked a Taliban commander if this will make them more inclined to kidnap our personnel.
Not surprisingly, his answer? “Definitely.”
No kidding…
