My daughter and I were talking today about MLK day: why it exists, who he was, what he did, etc.
During our conversation, she made this observation:
“One of the big achievements of the civil rights movement was to make it possible for all people to attend the same schools and work the same jobs together. So it seems like the best way to honor that would for everyone to go to work and school today to honor that we’re all there together.”
I love it when my daughter says something I’d never thought of before. There’s no feeling like when my daughter makes me proud of her and optimistic for her future.
